In a ruling issued today, the Tribunal de Commerce of Paris condemned
eBay.
Six companies of the LVMH group were suing the auction web site for alowing
trade mark infringement by knowingly letting users sell counterfeit
goods.
The court ordered eBay to pay 38,6 millions euros in damages. Ebay was also
ordered not to allow further sales of four perfumes trade marks (Kenzo,
Christian Dior, Givenchy and Guerlain), since those are sold through selective
distribution networks.
Ebay announced it was appealing the decision.
